Have you ever felt so miserably tired and exhausted to the point where your eyes are burning as you struggle to stay awake? I experience that all the time, especially when I get home from school. I can’t resist plopping down on my bed and I often tell myself that I’ll just close my eyes for a bit. What happens next? Well, usually wake up two (spoiler: it’s three) hours later, late for dinner and definitely on dish duty. Sounds appealing, right?
I’ve searched for solutions for some time. I’ve tried the rubber band technique (now that one hurt a lot!), the “nibble on food” technique, but I still fall asleep! I always get tempted to sleep even though my deadlines are threatening my own life (yes, that was exaggerated).
When I was younger, I never really understood coffee. I mean, sure, it keeps you awake, but what makes it so addicting to most adults? I’ve tasted it and —yuck, nuh-uh. But things changed as I got older. I tried tasting coffee again when I was nearly thirteen and I’m surprised I actually liked it this time.
I’ve been drinking coffee since then, but definitely not on a daily or weekly basis. Approximately 1 cup every 2 months, I think? I only drink coffee when it’s ABSOLUTELY necessary. And I still have my sleepy days. But hey, ever since then, it’s a good enough happily ever after for me.
So I hope you share your coffee story on this post too, because I’m doing the Coffee Book Tag!
Thank you Umairah @ Sereadipity for tagging me ♥ I’m so excited to do this tag so let’s get started!
1.) BLACK COFFEE | Name A Series That’s Tough To Get Into But Has Hardcore Fans
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas was so hard for me to get into. But the fandom is hella crazy! I eventually finished book 1 and it was…meh.
2.) PEPPERMINT MOCHA | Name A Book That Gets More Popular During the Winter or A Festive Time of Year
I’m not really sure about this one. I’m not a “festive” reader, it’s quite normal for me to read summer contemporary romances on a stormy December night. That being said, I don’t really pay attention to the popular books during each season. But I’m thinking, Wintersong and Nutcracker retellings, I guess?
3.) HOT CHOCOLATE | What Is Your Favorite Children’s Book?
I’m a reader for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I’ve LOVED reading the Seven Wonders series by Peter Lerangis, The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot, Treasure Hunters by James Patterson, the How To Train Your Dragon series by Cressida Cowell, the Animal Ark series, and so much more. I feel a bit of sadness whenever I see these books as I browse my shelves, they’re some of the things that made my childhood magical and worth cherishing.
4.) DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO | Name A Book That Kept You On the Edge Of Your Seat From Start to Finish
The Gilded Wolves got me hooked right from the beginning! The plot is complex and I love how the “magic system” is parallel to reality. I’m sure fans of Six of Crows will definitely love this book!
PH Blog Tour: The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi [Book Review]
5.) STARBUCKS | Name A Book You See Everywhere
The newest paperback editions of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling are EVERYWHERE these days. Yes, I’m talking about those pencil-sketch covers that form one
6.) THE HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP | Give A Book By An Indie Author A Shout Out
Y’all should read OverRuled by Brittney Joy! It’s really good, fans of Three Dark Crowns will definitely love it.

7.) OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY ORDERED DECAF | Name A Book You Were Expecting More Of
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. It wasn’t bad, actually it was pretty good, but I expected so much more from it. The hype is a monster tsunami compared to the actual average-surf-wave reality of The Cruel Prince (at least in my opinion).
8.) THE PERFECT BLEND | Name A Book Or Series That Was Both Bitter And Sweet, But Ultimately Satisfying
The Kingdom on Fire series by Jessica Cluess (A Shadow Bright and Burning) is one of my favorites ever! The conclusion broke my heart and even until now, I still can’t recover from the heartache brought by the end of a well-loved series.
ARC Review: A Sorrow Fierce and Falling by Jessica Cluess
9.) GREEN TEA | Name A Book Or Series That Is Quietly Beautiful
The Language of Stars by Louise Hawes is touching. It’s a YA book riddled with beautiful poems about the little things in life.
10.) CHAI TEA | Name a Book Or Place Series That Makes You Dream Of Far Off Places
The Crowns of Croswald by D.E. Night has excellent world-building. The setting is just so whimsical and full of magic, it’s definitely daydream-worthy!

11.) EARL GREY | Name Your Favorite Classic
Unpopular opinion: my favorite classic is NOT Pride and Prejudice. It’s definitely not an Austen book. My favorite classic is Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. This book opened my heart and mind to the cruelty in this world, especially how we humans treat animals. It’s beautiful, touching, and heartbreaking and I don’t think I can read it without tearing up.
I’M TAGGING :
And that’s it! This tag was so much fun to do! Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? If you have, please PLEASE comment so we can have a passionate bookwyrm-to-bookwyrm discussion! I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Why not try answering some of the questions?
Also, don’t forget to share your coffee story, like I did! Do you like coffee? Is it an addiction or a second option? Oh, do tell.
And before I finish this up, I’d like to say THANK YOU to everyone who’s made it this far! Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post, you made my day 💖
HA! I should do this one. I’m a real coffee addict!

I agree with you on pretty much all of these! I don’t like Pride and Prejudice at all.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t ‘despise’ Pride and Prejudice, it’s just that I don’t see anything special or unique in it. ♥
